Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach, Brunswick School

Former Head Varsity Baseball Coach, White Plains High School, Steve was a minor‑league pitcher drafted by the Cleveland Indians (Round 21, 2000) with professional experience including Albany–Colonie Diamond Dogs and Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Steve is a certified Physical Education teacher (grades 7–8, 2006–present) and holds an M.S. in Physical Education from Adelphi University and a B.A. from Iona College. He brings a results‑driven approach that blends fundamentals, discipline, and character building. Coaching focus: pitching development, defensive efficiency, game IQ, and player leadership on and off the field.

Baseball Coach, White Plains High School

John is an accomplished athlete and educator with a strong background in baseball and physical education. A graduate of White Plains High School in 2011, John earned recognition as an All-Section Pitcher during his high school career. He continued his academic and athletic journey at Adelphi University, where he played collegiate baseball and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education.

Dedicated to fostering student growth both on and off the field, John went on to earn a Master of Science in Childhood Education and Special Education from Manhattanville University. As a certified Physical Education teacher, he combines his passion for sports, fitness, and teaching to inspire young athletes and students alike.

With over a decade of experience in private instruction and coaching, John has helped countless players develop their skills, discipline, and love for the game.

  • Attended high school at Iona Prep and played for legendary coach Fred Gallo. Was named All-County by The Journal News Junior and Senior year. Senior year, led New York State and ranked 53rd nationally in Home Runs - Attended college at Manhattan University. Was named to the All-MAAC conference team all 4 years, and named to ABCA All-Northeast Region team Junior, and Senior year. During time there set Manhattan’s all-time home run and RBI records with 42HR and 214 RBI - Upon graduation signed a professional contract with the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League -  In 2023 was inducted to Manhattan University Athletic Hall of Fame - 10+ years of coaching experience. With Proswing, Frozen Ropes, and Westchester Academy.

  • Henry Hirsch was a two-year starter at Scarsdale High School and a three-year pitcher at the University of New Haven before being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2013 MLB Draft. After three seasons in the Pirates organization and a year with the independent league Long Island Ducks, he has spent the past three years serving as the Assistant Varsity Pitching Coach at White Plains High School.

    Manhattanville University: In 2024, Appeared in one game during his graduate season with the Valiants...Tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings in a start against St. Elizabeth on Apr. 14.

    Mercy College Baseball:  In 2022, named ECC Pitcher of the Week once, while appearing in 10 games on the mound making eight starts… Went 3-4 with a 4.94 ERA in 51 innings with 49 strikeouts, one save and two complete games… Second on team in strikeouts...

    In 2021, named to the All-ECC Second Team, while being tabbed NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Week once... Named ECC Pitcher of the Week and ECC Rookie of the Week each one time… Made nine appearances on the mound with eight starts… Went 5-1 with a 3.83 ERA in 49.1 innings with 47 strikeouts… Led the team in wins and ranked third in the ECC in wins…

    Ranked second on team in ERA… Led team in strikeouts...

    In 2020, named to ECC Commissioners Honor Roll... Made three appearances on the mound with two starts… Went 0-1 with an 11.57 ERA in 7.0 innings with five strikeouts.

    High School Baseball: Three-year varsity starter and senior captain at White Plains High School... Batted .400 as a leadoff hitter... Went 6-2 with 0.73 ERA, 67 strikeouts and 48 innings pitched... Named All-League is 2018 and 2019... Named All-Section in 2018 and 2019... Tabbed 2019 League Pitcher of the Year and 2019 Conference II Pitcher of the Year.

  • Jeff Sosis played ball at New Rochelle High School before going on to compete collegiately at SUNY New Paltz as a middle infielder. He then founded the New Rochelle Dirtbags in the Westchester Rockland Wood Bat League, where he was a player/manager for eight years and a two time all star. Coach Jeff specializes in infield defense and hitting, where he focuses on the fundamentals of fielding, throwing and swing mechanics.
